New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

DVD-Audio is not dead, it just smells funny!!

Commercial DVD-A discs have slowed to almost nothing, but there is a little life. All of the King Crimson discs will be coming out this year on DVD-A. DVD-A lives as the only viable hi-rez format for downloading. If you count 24/48 and 24/96 live recordings that get disseminated through "various" means DVD-A is very much alive. the whole problem with DVD-A on video discs is that it can be copied and shared easily. Make no mistake about it, DVD-A and SACD were created not for better quality sound, but as an attempt to prevent file sharing. Well, guess what, it didn't work!

If the record companies had just started to release remasters of albums in stereo at 24/96 at a reasonable price people, or at least I , would have snarfed them up.
I think they got what they deserved.

I also think that Bu-ray is going NOWHERE and is not even close to being embraced as a music format. I get my hi-def movies from Direct TV and soon enough they will download from the internet. Bye Bye blu-ray, you won the format battle but lost the war.
