Unfortunately, with your particular Pioneer player you will have to use the analog outs in order to output DVD-Audio. But then, the sound quality will be at the mercy of the player's own built-in DAC. All major-label DVD-Audio discs are copy-protected.Your player's behavior with copy-protected DVD-Audio discs is not uncommon. More commonly, however, a player will downsample copy-protected DVD-Audio content to 48/24 before that signal goes to the digital out regardless of which sampling rate the content has been originally recorded/encoded at.
