Problem with drawer on a Ampex DVD player!

Now most of you probably do not think to highly of Ampex DVD players,but here is my problem! The door opens and closes to fast!When you try to put a disc in it closes before you even get a chance to put it in!When you do get adisc in it works fine! What would cause that? any ideals?Brian
