I have now played the brand new Bruce Springsteen - We Shall Overcome : The Seeger Sessions DualDisc with Hi-Rez PCM , and I like it .
The entire album on the DVD side is 48/24 stereo . It's nice to see Sony Music move up to 48/24 on this fine DualDisc .
The DVD side has 2 bonus tracks , not found on the flip side , and they are also 48/24 stereo .
There is 30 minute film included on this DualDisc . It contains 6 songs performed live . The audio for the film is available in 2 ways : 48/24 stereo , and 5.1 Dolby Digital . I enjoyed both watching , and listening to , the film .
Last month , when I posted that Sony was going to release this new Bruce Springsteen album on DualDisc , SACD fans tunenut and racerguy , tried to salvage something from this disasterous news for the SACD format . They claimed that The Seeger Sessions was going to be released in the U.S. as a double inventory title , with separate DualDisc and CD versions released , and that it was a setback for the DualDisc format because last year Bruce Springsteen - Devils & Dust was released as a single inventory DualDisc in the U.S. Well , it appears that Sony Music is now showing more support for DualDisc . Just like Devils & Dust last year , the new Springsteen album is single inventory DualDisc in the U.S. , and now the new Springsteen album is single inventory DualDisc in Canada , whereas last year , Devils & Dust was released in Canada only as a CD and a DVD in the same package .
With Sony Music releasing Bruce Springsteen - We Shall Overcome : The Seeger Sessions on single inventory DualDisc with Hi-Rez PCM , it is obvious that Sony Music is moving farther away from SACD , and closer to DVD-A ...
And that makes me happy ... very happy .
