I don't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but you should be aware that the other aspects of the recording chain are much more important than using the highest resolution possible. Unless you're using good microphones with a mic-pre and A/D converter of equal quality, it's kind of like using a 15 megapixel digital camera with a cheap, dirty lens.Also, it may not be worth dealing with the increased storage requirements. 2GB is good for approximately 3 hours of 16/44.1 stereo, but only a little over an hour of 24/96 stereo. A good compromise would be 24/48 which would give you about 2 hours of stereo. Bit-depth is more important than sampling rate, anyway.
Below is a link to a forum thread that discussed the unit in October of last year. The unit has/had some "issues" you might be interested to know about. Fortunately, thanks to user input, I believe M-Audio was addressing many of them. Keep in mind that the unit was probably conceived more as a tool for ENG work than high quality music recording.
