New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

Re: DVD-A @16/44.1 vs. Redbook--same output?

We have one of those too.
Nice player, nice quality as well.
You can indeed put multiple albums at CD resolution onto a DVD-A disc - you will need software that has multiple groups in it though - DVD-A allows up to 9 groups of tracks, with up to 99 tracks per group.
I have often made myself compilations of several CD from an artist all on one DVD-A disc - saves all that hassle changing discs.
As long as you extract the audio from the CD digitally, making certain you remove any DC offset the process might introduce, it's easy.
I use a group per album myself - it's easier that way.

There is one slight issue with the Cambridge player - if your DVD-A is using Gapless track points you get a tiny, tiny glitch - not really a glitch, more like a slight microsecond pause - as it crosses the track point. This is a firmware issue, and cannot be resolved apparently.

As far as Software goes, it depends on your budget.
Minnetonka Audio's DiscWelder Steel is one option, at $500 or so.
A cheaper option is www.cirlinca.com, who have an application called DVD-Audio Solo at the incredible price of only $35. This allows you some serious flexibility - up to 20 slides per track, all 9 groups, lots of stuff. You simply cannot go wrong for the money.
