yup, you're right

Listening to "Race for the Prize" as I write this; I think the drum levels make sense, as that seems to be about where they were in the original mix (albeit now with the 5.1 it's much easier to give them separation). The really hard panning between the choruses and verses, though, kinda bothers me. Sure, it may be experimental and "testing the limits of 5.1", but it's also not particularly engaging.


And I think you're right about the voice at the end of spoonful; I haven't dug out my old copy of the cd yet, but I'm pretty sure it's been changed.

As much as I love the yoshimi 5.1 mix, the jury's still out on Soft Bulletin. I think they put less emphasis on creating an expansive and cohesive soundstage, and instead treated each speaker as a single soundscape unto itself (conjuring up some memories of the zaireeka experiment).

Still, I've only listened to it twice so far, it might take a little while to grow on me.
