I also have a 540D, and the firmware issues are insolvable.
The ones I found were glitches between gapless MLP track points and a reluctance to access some menu content.Additionally, Chicago II did not work either.
Apart from that I had (still have) no problems.
It's been reduced to a video test system though, as it has 6 video decoders.I'm now running a Denon 2910 unit, and it plays everything.
Avoid the 1920, it has issues.
Avoid the Pioneer players too.
