"PCM Stereo" on the DVD side of a DualDisc means LPCM stereo, which does not require DVD-A, but is compatible with regular DVD-V players. LPCM is non-compressed, which on DualDiscs is usually 48/16, sometimes 48/24. And 48/16 LPCM Stereo is barely better than 44.1/16 Redbook CD.Out of all the DVD-A's and DualDiscs that I currently own, the only album which actually has 96/24 LPCM stereo tracks is the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds DVD-A. OTOH, all three of my UMG DVD-A's and DualDiscs are Dolby Digital 5.1 only on non-DVD-A players -- no LPCM stereo track.
