The capacity limitation of the DVD side of DualDisc is plainly clear. The DVD side of a DualDisc simply cannot accomodate both a 5.1 surround program and a stereo program in full 96/24 MLP DVD-A resolution at the same time while also including a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround program and/or an LPCM stereo program for DVD-Video players lacking a DVD-Audio decoder. In the case of BIA, in order to fit a full 96/24 5.1 mix onto a limited 4.7GB DVD side, the stereo mix had to be mastered at only 48/24.And due to the same capacity limitation, Disc 2 (the acoustic disc) of the Foo Fighters' In Your Honor DualDisc limited edition was forced to present the stereo mix at only 48/16 resolution in order to present a 5.1 surround mix at the full 96/24 resolution.
Oh, well... You can't win every time.
Happy listening,
