Thanks for the responses!Man, sounds like I going to need to spend some more green than I expected. I wasn’t considering my current sound card as a limitation but that was just my ignorance. That certainly makes sense.
Rod: Does the E-mu 1212m sound card’s software bundle that you describe include a declicker / denoiser? The MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab package I currently use to create redbook 16/44 transfers has a very easy to use and effective interface for these functions.
