Actually, the $$$ in question have already been spent on the DAC. It's not an either/or, however. I have an SCD-1 for SACD (and to use as a transport for red book). The vast majority of my listening is to red book, so I wanted to spend the most for that. But I can eventually get a DVD-A player if I want one.

Frankly, as a predominently classical listener, there's not enough out of DVD-A to tempt me at the moment. Most of the good stuff (Merc Living Presence, RCA Living Stereo) is coming out on SACD, which I can accomodate.

Three years ago, I was dreaming out loud on the Hi-Rez forum about RCA Living Stereo SACD's. So these are literally a dream come true for me.
