I love these questions. Your analysis of the situation is correct but why bother asking since you are probably the only person who has all the equipment on hand to answer? Just listen and decide. Then, if you like, you can tell us.As for the last question, there are several ways to feed hi-res, mch DVD-A/SACD to external DACs but they all involve other interfaces (S/PDIF is inadequate for mch) and equipment (sophisticated copy-protection schemes are required).
