I am collecting Laserdiscs at the moment, some of them have a very good soundtrack, especially the titles that don't have the digital surround encoding. That format is very dead, but there are several thousand titles to explore, and they sell for dirt cheap, which is exactly what I need these days.I think some of them are raw PCM, and the sound is very good. I have to understand whether all the movies were transferred at 16/48 or if some of them were transferred directly from the analog soundtrack. Anyway on some old movies the sound is excellent, much better than the equivalent DVD.
