I'd like to know where Ted is getting his information that the player spec for SA-CD requires a 2x ROM mechanism.
If you get a chance, try to pick up the March issue of the Journal of the AES, there are interesting papers from a number of authors including Bob Stuart, Derk Reefman, Erik Janssen, Stanley Lipshitz, John Vanderkooy and other luminaries. There's much that's interesting to read include a discussion of the Direct Stream Transfer algorithm.
