It's a format that the record companies are likely to accept for the time being.They all realize that in order to compete with DVDV and other entertaiment spending opportunities it must offer more than the good old music only album concept. They are desperate for a format that sells to keep the boat afloat. Both sa-cd and DVD Audio fail to do that. (Except for the niche labels targetting audiophiles willing to spend on music).
If DualDisc gains market traction then the future for DVDA is far more secure than a future for sa-cd.
How many of the DualDisc will have hires content is anybody's guess.
If Warner and others offer hirez content then there will likely be internet buzz about Sony short changing their customers by skimping on the hires content.
In a mass market they can't afford that.
