I second Dave's suggestion, there is a good Creek passive preamp (I think it's the OBH 22) and it serves as a headphone amp as well, I tried it briefly and it seemed to be very good for the price and quite musical, so if you don't have a headphone amp, you could kill two stones with a bird.
