The omega series is for a select few, a niche of the niche, SACD is a niche format, it makes sense to confine it in this price category. The music/entertainment that most people listen to (and broader access to the art) is starting to and will comeout in DVD form, and in the next generation media, including high density disks.SACD, by all indications, is being relegated to a niche format for some audiophiles. Get ready for these wonderful niche releases on SACD: "15th Century Mongolian Instruments Extravaganza".
The recent flurry of megabucks SACD players is a clear indication that it is being confined to a niche format for obsessive audiophiles. Manufacturers know it already and work on small scale, highend players, transport, etc. The only thing missing from this sandwich is the meat, the music...or the sony legacy of 2000 subsidized titles (you guys are lucky to have that to make your investments worth it (?)).
