New DVD-Audio music releases and talk about the latest players.

Pan 87, falling out of love with the player.

First, there is this bizarre, and drastic difference in volume. The DVDAs play at a nice clip, but the CD's play much lower. What does the brochure say? That is normal! No, it's not. I just swapped out the Pioneer Elite 45, and the redbook volume is 3 times louder on the Pioneer.
Preamp goes from 2 O'clock on the panasonic, to 11 O clock, on the Pioneer.

And getting the thing to just up and play, when a disc is inserted, is impossible. Half the time I have to get up and just push the play button to get sound out of it. It has been demoted to the HT DVD player.
