I did buy this unit new and it was NO typo in the manual. The bias was set dead on the service manual spec.
I have a feeling, judging from the heat generated, that the intent was to push the amp into class A operation.
I've read the reviews about this amp before I bought it. And no one mentioned anything about the sound I was hearing. IF it were an assembly problem they why would it be on both channels.
Now that I'm able to listen to it, it's actually an amazing amp. The only problem I have now is that after 12 years I've pretty much filled my collection of listenable amps.
