988/2805 & mc275 owners..what output tap?

I've searched the archives and it seems like there are varying opinions on which output tap to use with the 988/2805 in general with tube amps but I could not find anything specific to the MC275.
While I plan to do some experimentation myself, I wanted to see if I could benefit from others' experiences with the McIntosh MC275 and Quad combo. I am currently using the 8ohm tap and things sound pretty darn good so far.
If I've done my research correctly, I should go with the output tap that sounds the most open and solid, right? Will there be any other differences I should pay attention to?
