It sounds like the tweeter delaminated somewhere, and yes it can be fixed but not if that guy keeps playing them with it loose. Like any wire, the excessive vibrating it does when off is like bending it back and forth thousands of times. We all know any wire bent like that is going to stress and break.That too is fixable, but you'd MUCH rather fix the former. I'd advise him to stop playing them immediately, and open and inspect the one making the noise. If the wire is found to be off it should be fixed before being played again.
