RE: Headphone Amplifier Output Transformer

To follow up where I got with this thing. To try something I used what I had lying round in order to see what gain I needed for my system. I had a 1671 so used that at 4:1 from a diff pair of 6N6P @ 20mA ea with a CCS in the tail, one grid grounded, the other the input. It works well enough for now and is totally silent with AC heaters. PSU is choke input with a gas regulator following at 150V. I only need to drive Sennheiser HD650 at 300 ohm.

I will next try input transformer, say 1544a to get rid of CCS in tail.

It has occured to me that I will need a line stage for the future and that's basically what I have. The 2765 is meant to be for headphone use and so I'm wondering should I go for the 2765 or maybe the 1680 or 1689 which are line out transformers? Are there other choices?

cheers,

Stephen
