He went beyond "Re-Mixing" old songs. In places, he re-sang them.

  Agreed, but in order to release the offending re-makes he kind had to. The original versions were on a different label (UA). It's happened to others including James Taylor for his Greatest Hits on WB.
  - My biggest beef was with the added "Self Harmonies" on "If You Could Read My Mind." - John Marks 08:45:10 11/05/24 (0)
    And "If You Could Read My Mind" was first released on WB.
