Ortofon upgrade

Currently running an OM-10 on a Denon DP-47 table. Looking to upgrade to the OM-20 equivalent, I purchased this: Digitrac 200NE cartridge
Wow, what a difference! The Digitrac seems to feature a buzzy humming noise only in the left channel, and for a bonus, when the volume is at zero, it produces loud noise (music?) directly from the groove! Please pardon the sarcasm. Is this common with generic styli?
I am returning and just purchased a new OM-20.
I have some Weather Report and new Moody's to track when it arrives.
Anyone made this upgrade here? Comments?

I had an OM-10, upgraded to the 20 and the difference was quite noticeable. I later upgraded to the 40 because I read that the 30 was a marginal upgrade over the the 20 but the 40 was worth the money.

Just ordered an original Om20 stylus from Thakker in Germany. Over 150 euro but it's worth it. I kept having tracking distortion with my old stylus. Stylii don't last forever. Only CD's do...

  I got a response from the folks at lp: "We were able to replicate the issues in distortion you were experiencing. Upon further testing, we found the stylus you received to be the incorrect replacement and of non Nude."
  
  That really makes me trust them...

  His moniker is [LISTEN] which is actually using angle brackets. Somehow that messes with the links. He should change the moniker without the angle brackets.

seems like I once herd the primary difference between OM-10,20,30,40 is the stylus and they are interchangeable. I didn't do what you tried but I have put a sty-30 into a Ortofon cartridge, popular with SL-1200's DJ's and it works fine.

  Just ran the new OM-20 over the weekend; superb! It blows away the OM-10. Mids and bass now have awesome detail!
