I recently bought a plain DL 103, no suffix. Can anyone, and I imagine there are plenty who can, give a brief rundown of the sound of each of the different versions? If I bought a different version, what difference might I expect to hear?
Shout out to 2juki, for unbelievably fast service.
Thanks in advance. To be used in an SME IV arm with removable headshell. Currently using a DV 20 x and a Benz Glider, both homc. The Pyxi phono will accommodate lomc, (as most of you probably already know.)

it's staggering. Just putting Denon 103 in the find box above will keep you busy for more than a day. Also putting EdAInWestOC + Denon 103 in the find box will yield some excellent information.
What happened to Ed? He disappeared from here some years back.Same with Marty (Viridian)?

Yeah. You're right.

103 Denon's have slightly different specs in compliance, diamonds etc.
When I had 103's it was the 'R' version that sounded noticeably slightly better than the regular 103 version because the coils were wound with gold wire. This was a while ago and I hope I remember correctly.
The 103 'family' sound very similar in stock form, no body or any other mods. I cannot say anything about the de-nuded mods or any others
Thanks for the extra info. There is a recent AK post about the cartridge with the body removed and "nekkid". Gives some more views.

Responses to Rod's recent question gives a lot of answers. But if anyone has anything to add, I'd like to hear it. Thanks.
