Three of the 6 spring-loaded terminal connections no longer seem to work on my receiver. I have cross-tested wires from the speakers into known properly working terminals and the speakers do not have a problem. However, when I try to plug any of the speaker wires into one of these three connections, there is no sound whatsoever. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

My guess is that you don’t wish to do an extensive modification of your receiver in order to install 5-way binding posts. If this is true, here’s an option:A spring-loaded terminal is often a surface-mount type that can be replaced with an exact drop-in replacement. But rather than replace a spring-loaded terminal with yet another spring-loaded terminal, it would be better to select a barrier strip terminal that implements a screw instead of a spring-loaded contact. Measure the exact distance between the spring-loaded terminal's mounting holes to determine which barrier strip terminal will fit your needs. A high quality barrier spade such as the direct gold plated copper Vampire BAR spade can be used to connect speaker wire to a barrier strip terminal rather than bare wire.
I must apologize for not saying thank you sooner than this. I totally got off track with my projects and just got back to this one. Thank you again for your suggestion. It sounds a bit over my head at the moment, but I will take this information with me when I find an electronics guy to help me out!
As pkell44 suggests, upgrade those connectors with a quality connector if your planning on keeping the unit.If upgrading the connectors is not an option for U, contact the manufacturer to see if they can supply U with a new set of connectors.
There are also electronics parts stores/sites that would most likely carry replacements that would work in your receiver. Your local Radio Shack might even stock what U need.
Bottom line, if U luv your receiver and want to increase it's performance, chuck those nasty spring loaded connectors and replaced them with quality binding posts. U could even upgrade the internal wiring while your upgrading your connectors for an even bigger jump in performance :-)
Cheers,
Rather the reverse of the Gypsy recipe for chicken soup : "First, steal one chicken...", give back the spring terminals; id est, GET RID OF THEM ! They are about the most un-reliable and poorest performing connectors available. First choice are screw terminals and spade lugs on the spkr. leads, followed by good quality banana plugs and sockets. Eichmann makes some of the best, if not the best bananas, they are a tad salty, but yer gits what yer pays for. I hate to keep recommending Percy (a.k.a. Percy the Pirate) but he does carry a range of good quality speaker connectors, of both genders.
