I have done some searches here and read up on a couple sites that sell these tubes and am just a little confused as to what to look for if I wanted to try a pair in my setup. Is there a major difference between the sound of the:
5814 triple mica
ecc82
e82cc
versions of these tubes?Which is considered the best and what is a fair price on these?
Any good sources for them?I have a cheap used pair of ECC82's coming that is supposedly produced in the 60's. (see link)
I was thinking if I liked their character I would look for a better version of this tube and for $10 couldn't complain too much if they were not so hot.Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

Milos-Thanks for your reply. I have read many of your posts here on AA and they are very informative.
Were there more than one double mica E82cc?
I see one on your list which was produced in the 70's.
What is the sound of that one like in your opinion?
Upscale Audio has some it appears.
Hi
the double mica e82cc was the latest one from Munich factory. Nothing special and much worse tube in comparison with 60s triple mica e82cc. Both tubes in your link were much better. The left one is long plate late 50s ecc82.This tube is very fine, rounded and musical and also comparable to other 50s Euro like Philips or Valvo long plate ecc82. However this tube is not so magical in mid. The right one is famous silver plate ecc82 one of my favorite Siemens. This tube is more analytical with great extension in bass and high but not so rounded, particularly in mid. If you have the tubes from the pictures, test them carefully and made a decision which one you prefer, because older long plate Siemens & Halske mid-late 50s sound different then the latter 60s triple micas e82cc.My advice is to try some triple mica e82cc, because it combines the virtues of analytical and most musical tubes.
Valvo – Siemens made 6067 or triple mica silver plate is very rare and pricy tubes, while you can find 60s triple mica e82cc for the relatively fair price. Try to find old one from late 50s-early 60s in blue-yellow Siemens & Halske box.

Milos
Milos-You have a good eye in your assessment of the tubes in the pictures!
When I looked at the picture later I thought the one on the left looked like it had longer plates, but then thought that it was just the picture. You are right-they are not a pair of the same type of tubes.I think I kind of made a mistake as I need a pair of tubes for my preamp- not just one. I will talk to seller and it should be no problem to return if he has sent them already.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Tony,
maybe it’s not a bad idea to preserve such a good tubes. Ok you need a pair but then again you can find one more silver plate and long plate Siemens ecc82. The price you paid for them was very low and both tubes are premium 12au7 if test well also I believe that you will never find them again at that price. Real price for this two old tubes is about 50-150$.
Siemens 60s silver plate ECC82 is very rare and great tube, on my top 10-15 list, just as a 1956-1959 double support getter long plates one.
Sent you an email offline.
Thanks for your help.
