As a guitar player, I have to share my audio space with my guitar cabinets. Each one contains four 12" speakers (8 total). Do the extra woofers have any detrimental effect on the sound when using my two channel system?
Follow Ups:
You can get a little sound distortion from them..but if you are not noticing it now than I wouldn't worry about it.
your 2 -12inx4 cabs with a heavy blankets you wont notice it.
I find there IS a difference that if you MUST have extra speakers in the room (guitar speakers for example), then try facing the guitar speakers towards the wall (obviously when the guitarist isn't playing, although it may help his/her playing, hehehe). I don't know the physics behind this (sympathetic resonance?), but it sounds better when the drivers of the "offending" aren't facing the listener...Just IMHO...

All those extra speakers can affect the sound of your stereo as those cones will move, especially with lower frequencies, so irregularities could be introduced.Of course, all furniture and fixtures in a room affect the sound of a stereo. How does your stereo sound to you now? If you are hearing what you think you should, don't worry too much. If there is a lack of bass, boominess, too little or too much treble or whatever, then you should experiment with the placement of speakers and furniture. Depending on what must be in the room, you may reach of point where that is just the way things are.
and the Thiels had no bottom end to speak of. I was about to asak for a properly setup audition, when I noticed the tweeters had been pushed in and the salesperson said it wouldn't affect the sound. IIRC, he wanted C$4000, then asked me to make him an offer.I didn't even opend the door, I just ran.
