- how do loudspeaker types including fullrange with and without "helper tweeter", various horn/waveguides of varying directivity collapse/control fare for subjective illusion in playing back well recorded rainstorms on and off axis?
Follow Ups:
Dunno, but...
another very powerful judge of "real-ness" IMNSHO is applause. Or is that "are applause"? Is "applause" a collective noun, singular, or plural? Or are they?
:-)
At any rate: the ESL-57's do applause very well. Haven't tried rainstorms yet.
all the best,

my limited collection of FR and no "helper" are not anywhere as good as Karlson tubes on rain (or cymabls) upper F - (subjective tube dispersion is ~120V x 160H) Larger Karlson bass couplers can generate a fair amount of midbass power without much cone movementhow much power response does it take to get good applause and rain/waterfall sounds? - - with limited dipsersion FR, rain can sound "hard" dead on axis, and go flat not too much off axis. Some amplifiers such as EP2500 might mess up a good recording from the getgo (?)
I had rough pair of original Quad - rattled bad and had to take hair dryer to them every few days
on another subject - wonder if theres a simple way to get your Cornwall to sound better for you? maybe someone over at Klipsch forums is honest enough to admit faults and have worked a few problems out without changing out its innards (?) - maybe DJK has a few ideas -guess they;re too tall to use as 6th order boosted reflex subs for the 207...
Best,
Freddy
... they are dang big, though!
all the best,
mrh
