I built a knockoff pair of the partsexpress.com Kuse 3201s using 18 3" drivers in 8" pipe that was 6ft tall they are in a large area (in the hayloft of a barn) and they sound phenominal... I had some drivers left so I put them in a hexagon shaped enclosure about 3 ft tall and 6" on each side... I put 9 of the drivers on one side and they sound ok - I know that there is some low frequencies hanging out in there - Would you put a passive radiator in the bottom of a line array? I know very little about this and would like to learn... I currently have them ported but there is no rhyme or reason to the port - It just looked right
Follow Ups:
Even if you made a line array with enough drivers to properly drive a PR (I presume you're talking about an 8" PR), you wouldn't get any deep bass, because of the limits to a 3" driver. A PR has a very sharp cutoff below Fb, much steeper than a port. If you're looking for good bass, you may want to consider a powered sub.
Matthew Polk's original consumer product, the somewhat ill-fated Model Nine, used four 4" CTS drivers fullrange, augmented (originally) with a piezo tweeter (Motorola "orange juicer" style) and a passive radiator in a tall, thin sealed "tower" enclosure.
I have a pair of the slightly later Model 9A (virtually identical, but the piezo was replaced with the venerable Peerless KO10DT silk dome, and some sort of crossover thereto). I realize this isn't exactly a line array, but it's in the same neighborhood, and I CAN say that the bass from these is surprisingly good in quality and quantity.
You can see the original Model Nine brochure, if it's of any interest, at the link below.
all the best,

I stand corrected. If it was good enough for M Polk, its good enough for me. Polk is the reason I have a PR fetish. I own a pair of Polks and I use PRs in my DIY speakers.
Thanks for the pic
