JEK's coupler keeps the cone excursion down on hardass transients that leave reflex flapping in the windJEK's coupler adds "3-D drama" through controlled reverb
JEK"s coupler looks cool and has form following function
JEK's coupler was a distinct diversion from prior art.
JEK's coupler form follows function includes a "clean port" from rear lowpass filter and front shelf correction of a 250Hz dip.
JEK's coupler was meant to work with coaxials
its the ultimate Atomic Age speaker for its bulk and fully ready for future centuries.
don't forget to shellac the front chamber

I'm thinking that the Karlson enclosure must be the hi-fi equivalent of the 100 mpg carburetor.
If you get my drift.
:-)
all the best,

my little K sounds great drums are very punchy.Low bass is reduced but its only a 4 1/2in driver.Trebile is way better than expected.Nice thing about the K is if you stand drivers pointing at ear if you sit angled baffle directs energy forward so they image very good standing or sitting, off axis they reduce upper mid -trebile a bit about what a front horn will do. And as Freddy said dont forget to shellac front chamber I dipped mine so whole cabinet inside and out is coated.
Hey Freddyi,
A friend of mine brought over a speaker cabinet he didn't like(transmission line)and we gutted it and turned it into a Karlson.
It wasn't the same size as the K15,so we improvised...used an Altec 416-8a,crossed over at 500 hz to 345 hz Tractrix/JBL 2441 and Fostex t925a.
Haven't had time for extensive listening tests, but so far sounds pretty good...gonna have to build real K15 for comparison.
Gotta get up in 3 hrs to go to work,so will post more later.
BTW,the bass sounds better through the Karlson than my Peavey bass amp.
Hey Don looks like you're a kard-karrying member - whats your K's vent?
thats a nice coupler and higher/narrow aspect will help comparisons- when K's get to a certain point then one might get hooKed - the first few inches of slot can make them sound way different but won't show on RTA
got any coax? - thats when Karlson R lotsa fun
got 1" pvc for k-tube? 1/2 ellipse for ~5.3-5.5" tube makes a good waveguide - (better in ways than pro-90??? - U tell me)
K15's front shelf may alter what gets into the coupler's upper half so a high xover with horn may be affected. K-tubes blend nice with about any K
there must be new coupler possibilites
Freddy
Karlson's are Kool.
