cool Bill - I've gotta see which of my woofers might get about that much hit - is that more hit than your simulations predicted?why is there an apparent rise with the hitbox around 1K?
was there any more half-horn activity?

simulation 206E in RCA Fan K-slot BLH vs M151 in RCA Fan hithorn w. M151
Edits: 08/14/07 08/14/07Follow Ups:
There is no activity past 200Hz, because the level is much higher between 50Hz-150Hz than the midband response of the woofer past 200Hz, due to the horn.
Same for the C-40 backloaded horn. You just get a lot of gain with these type boxes.
The box is doing all the work. What ever woofer you use will have similar bass, just less midrange as the cone gets heavier
guess question might come down to which potentially plays "nicer" - 8" wideband in RCA-Fan BLH or good 15" coaxial in RCA-Fan Hawaii V-vent (or hitbox)? - ?flip of coin?
I supsect theres a market (maybe very small?) for flat-pack BLH for 8" - Madisound only offers BK16 and Planet 10 made its flat-pack debut with the little Frugal-Horn
The Hit horn is about as loud as you can get it without a true horn. The power output far outstrips an 8" BLH.. at the expense of flat response.
If you like kick drums, floor toms, or conga drums-- a hit horn is for you. I put a lit "hit" from 90-150Hz in the RCA-fan horn, just for this reason.
There is a market for a 8" BLH. That is one of the reasons so much time was put into the RCA-fan horn. I was curious as to how good you could get a BLH with an 8", in a small box.
But, I decided I did not want to be in the woodworking business, and
after the design was fixed, I posted it here on A.A.
Partly good will, partly advertising.

hi Bill -
I love hit-types for drum and if my precise-cutter ever cuts then your hitbox is coming up.
your K-slot BLH has strength in that graph where its needed vs Fostex's 208 BLH plus 5 internal panels all the same width is pretty simple - do you think it would play big drum with Fostx at good level? (i play that with 150W/channel tube on Klipshorn - k-Horn not very coherent but can startle despite some k-horn mudiness)
Karlson may still win on Ken Griffin (?)
