Hi I just got a pair of Fostex F200A, alnico fullrange diver.
I wondering if anyone have experience with this speaker, what type of cabinet should be used, openbuffer, sealbox, bassreflex, transimitionline or the fostex recomended 45 liter bass reflex
is just fine?
I aimed for classical music, Jazz and vocal. And my amp is 300B Sunaudio schematic...
Follow Ups:
I've owned TL loaded F200As for nearly two years now. Terrific speakers with quick, clean, deep bass. For now they are the last speakers I'll own. Meaning I'll probably own others..but the FTAs are here to stay for the duration. Others may come and go but I'll always have these speakers till someone takes them from my cold dead hands. lol
The Brines do require a good 30 wpc or more before they come too life. Not sure how your amplifier will work with them.
Good luck

Have you compared them to other single driver designs or just conventional multi-way stuff? They are not very common and I guess passed over in favor of higher efficiency Lowthers (at this level of cost).

The only SDs I've compared them to were Omega single driver speakers and Cain & Cain SD speakers. The Bens are beautiful speakers no doubt..but dynamically they don't hold a candle to the TL loaded F200A drivers. When Bob says no subwoofer is needed ..he really means it! Yes they are rare. That actually makes me even fonder of them. I'm most likely the only person in my state that owns a pair of FTAs.
If looking for extreme efficiency..you may as well look else where. If you're looking for dynamics and deep bass in a SD..TL loaded F200As are going to be tough to beat.

Still testing high sensitiviy basshorn
I have built over 30 f200a systems keep cabinet large mine are near 90 l use a 3in flared port.If you do so you will get very deep detailed bass responce.Only real weak points for f200a are slight reduction in hifrequincy off axis a bit of a peak arround 5khz but if you toe in speaker right this is reduced to near flat f200a can play loud but is limited in SPL but realy a non issue unless giant room or if you have a need for max spl.Drivers pretty easy to design- build for but if you want all the bass this driver can give then keep cabinet large.FYI f200a works in AS BR TL front horn and OB but without much bass in OB designs I have even build bookshelfs that hit 35hz with f200a
Looks to be a good choice.

there is a cabinet plan in the package carton of the F200A.
this is a simple Reflex cabinet type
