I have most of the RCA system used for the Fantasound project. Amplifiers and speakers. And just a few days ago I found a copy of the 1957 Buena Vista (Disney) three album release of the soundtrack, original and conducted of course by Stokowski. Unfortunately, its not very good, dark, and veiled. But having recently put together a really smash up projector system and screen right between the RCA horns, I have to say I am greatly looking forward to actually watching Fantasia itself with the RCA system that was used for audiences 67 years ago.
By the way, how many other folks here are using their two channel horn systems for HT? I'm really loving it. The incredible detail and dynamics of a big horn system make most movies far more engaging than what I am experiencing in commercial venues today.

Follow Ups:
We don't even go to the theater anymore the last three times we went we had to ask them to turn it down to stop the horrible distortion. The DVD for fantasia has some interesting "behind the scenes" info on the system used.
Did your buddy ever get that QRK project going? Not much Slate out here on the west coast, I think I'm going to put mine in an Oak tree stump and see how that sounds.

Jonathan I haven't been to your place since you got the big projector going, but I am familiar with your system and am certain that it is terrific for movie watching.
I web searched for Fantasia some time ago and found one picture that showed the installed speakers from behind. Clearly shown was an early RCA multicellular horn with vertically oriented Y throat and MI-1428B drivers... just like yours. I have lost track of that site; has anyone else seen it?
I am running my LCD projector with whatever horn rig happens to be hooked up at the moment. I have long contended that to properly enjoy home theatre one needs theatre speakers! Sad but true, it is not hard to assemble a horn system that is much more satisfying than what one finds at the local walk in these days. Of course at home we have to do without the sticky floor, the cell phones going off, the noisy kids and the loud drunk sitting in the back.
Hey Steve,
Anytime you need a loud drunk for atmosphere just give me a call, O.K.?

Hey W, you've got a deal. In fact, I just might join you!
