I have not seen the BD modded driver so I was wondering if Bert removed the bugscreen from the throat. If he did not I suggest you remove it .

Follow Ups:
To remove that requires disassembling it from the horn, doable but not the best thing I want to get into. There are wood screws that hold on a casing around the horn and it goes into some wood block attached to the horn that is partially splintering as a result of self-tapping into it. I hate to repeatedly remove and re-install those screws as there is only so many times it will take that abuse and crumble apart on me.
There is the protected bug screen on there. Doesn't this help keep out dust and bugs and such and protect the innards? Is it really a good thing to remove that protection?

I removed mine very early on and recall a clearer less confused sound so they stayed off. Remember that these units are designed to be used at outdoor sound reinforcement gigs, so bugs might be an issue there but not in a home and dust is a non issue anyway. If you live an the Everglades that might be different since I think there is more mosquitoes than air molecules:)
If you get the time I recommend it.
Enjoy it anyhow.

Damn, I guess I better put my "bug screens" back on then. It had been a drought but it has been raining everyday for the last week or two and them skeeters are thick now!
And yes, for anyone unaware.....you Don't want to be caught outside after dark in the glades.
