David,
Just because you like Romy`s `cute` little stories doesn`t give him the right to insult folks all over the internet. If he wants to act like a jerk he`s going to have to be prepared for some backlash. There still are
some people with scruples in this world who won`t take abuse from the self chosen.

All public forums have rules and community norms. I too enjoyed Romy's audio observations, however I recognize his verbal abuse of other asylum members often crosses the line and goes beyond what is accepted here. I am afraid your appeal will not be granted simply because it is Romy himself who refuses to behave like an adult, exhibit just a little self control. Can you imagine what every board on the internet would be like if everyone could empty their bladder anytime they liked? regards, T

OK, I guess that if it were a matter of cost, maybe editing content to save bandwidth would be a legitimate practice. But, as we all know, tolerating Romy is, well, priceless...so why can't we do it? Is it just a question of his style of expression?
I like Romy and visit his website on occasion. There's no doubt that he has great experience and knowledge about audio/horns. And he's even willing to help people if they do their homework first.
But, when he gets a wild hair up his ass, he can really go after people. And he often lacks the ability to let go of things or people that bother him. The Bored gave Romy many "time outs" to calm down and he would create endless sockpuppets/false identities to continue harassing people or badmouth the Bored. I'm not talking one or two false identities, more like 20 or 30, maybe more.
Like it or not, this is their house and they do not have tolerate someone calling them names non-stop. Nonetheless, Romy is an acquired taste and definitely has a lot of interesting insights o share on music, horn design, life, etc. If only he could really that info in a more palatable manner.
...
Well, not only Romy, but Tom Brennan and myself, among others have been known to call BS and sometimes not so nicely. And I've mixed words with both of them on occasion too.I see no harm there and there are people that I've decided not to bother even reading what they post anymore, let alone responding to it. Just because someone posts something does not mean I am required to read it, especially if there is reason to believe it will be abusive. Rather than having someone else's values imposed upon me, I'd much rather rely upon an my own judgment and remain tolerant of differences: I don't want big brother or a babysitter state.
Whatever the beef between The Bored and Romy, it is old and very deep and unlikely to go away any time soon. For that matter I'd like to see Magnetar back, but that isn't likely to happen either.

Nooooooooo, I don't think that's likely to happen any time soon!
Nobody here but us chickens.

...but even 5 year-olds can sing to you about "sticks and stones...." and generally seem to grasp the concept. Maybe the moderators skipped school when that lesson was taught...or are the moderators pre-K? BTW, scruples are wonderful things to have, but why does it follow that possessing them should make one immune from verbal abuse?
I don't post here often but have been watching this romy cat for a while. Most statements about him are true. Seemingly learned yet painfully arrogant. People who object to the censoring of posts on forums typically fly the "freedom of expression" flag and bash the moderators pretty hard. The thing is, and maybe it's spelled out somewhere here I haven't looked...is that a forum like this can have whatever rules they want. If they desire to enforce a level of net etiquette then so be it, after all they are running the forum and are probably not making much money if any at all running this site. Niche forums like this are generally done out of love, not coin. And the bottom line is, if you don't like it, find another place to fit in.
It's true that words, like talk is cheap...but...I say,
support the moderators here...they make this place work.
And also this is a pretty cool spot on the web. :)
David,
Admiring people like Romy is your privilege. I don`t...
