the transformers are single voltage only.with no taps or rewiring possibilities.
You could always ordr a 230VAC transformer from SONY and it wou;dn'd be too hard to change it over - but it could be expensive.
But if you obtain a 230 to 115 stepdown tranaformer of a least 100VA power rating - you may find it performes even better than if you were to change the transformer.
As long as this step-down traffo is NOT a toroidal type - it could well act as an effective line filter as well as match the voltage.

Hi Allen,
can Autotransformers do also the trick also as a line filter?
BTW, I have get the Sony DVP-NS999ES because the 9000 it is gone and it is a nonsense due to the heavy weight, get one outside my country.
Best regards,
Beto
Look on Ebay for some of the Topaz transformers.I use one for balanced AC with excellent results and they can also be used for step-up or step-down AC.
Here's one :item #150110158707 that would work just fine.

Hi Allen,
I'm looking for a Hammond step down. There is one toridal and one Ei type. The toroidal provides isolation, as they stated on the features.
Why I need 100VZ VA power rating? Why this can provide a line filter?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
> I'm looking for a Hammond step down. There is one toridal and one Ei type. The toroidal provides isolation, as they stated on the features <Not in my experience - toroids couple high frequecy hash and noise far more than an EI core transformer - unless they have made the toriodal in very special way.

Becuase it's far more than the player needs, therefore will not limit the player. A smaller transformer may well cause a loss of dynamics or other sonic problem.
> Why this can provide a line filter? <
Because, if it is a EI core, with the primary and secondard windings on separate bobbins, the high frequency response of such a transformer is poor - hence the high frequency noise & hash present on ALL wall supplies will not transfer to the player.

You know Schaffhausen?
Hi Allen,
I spend a few beautifull days on Munich a few years ago, but I do not know Schaffhausen.
Thanks a lot for your answers. I have the oportunity to get a 9000 or a 999, but, its seems that the 9000 is the best choice.

Allen:Why is it EI core transformer, but not toroid, will work as a line filter?
Thanks,
1/ Toroids have a vastly better HF response than EI cores, which is not needed or wanted for 50/60Hz powersupply energy transmission.2/ Toroids normally have very high primary to secondary capacitance as both windings are "on top of each other" and hence couple the HF hash far better.
