It seems that every now and then I have an urge to "tweak" my system (but, unfortunately always within a too low budget). I've been using speaker cables using Furutech u-4.1t bulk cable for quite some time and have been reading great reviews of Mogami W3103. Both the Furutech and Mogami are stranded cables using high quality copper. The Mogami would have slightly lower gauge (12awg versus ~10 for the Furutech) but my speaker cables are 10 feet long so I don't think (???) the lower AWG would be a problem.
The cost wouldn't be an issue; the only issue being switching out the cables and discovering that there was no improvement and then having another set of cables sitting in the parts bin.
Do you think the change would be sideways (i.e., no apparent change in sound at all), backwards, or worth the try?
Follow Ups:
Sounding like a broken record here a bit. I use Neotech Nemoi solid core cables and LOVE them. They are 2mm rectangular UP-OCC copper and I terminate with pure silver spades. The Euro price is about 70 per metre (3ft) so not sure how that fits in your budget.
I also recently swapped out my loom of Oyaide UP-OCC power cables for silver plated Neotech cables again, to great effect for my ears.
As an FYI, I prefer detail and transparency over warmth/slam any day. I use Musical Fidelity for amplification that is fast and lean anyway and the Neotech delivers the goods with ample bass and soundstage for my ears as well as superb transparency.
I have built, used and sold many pairs of the Mogami speaker cables.
They are fine sounding cables, very detailed with a very strong bottom end. Not the most transparent but very good for the price.
A cable with similar qualities but clean and more transparent sounding, is Audioquest Rocket 88, being solid core instead of stranded.
However, if you are interested in something with all the qualities of the Audioquest with a bit more transparency and sparkle on the top end, go on Aliexpress and get some Chinese Valhalla terminated to your length, or even better unterminated and terminate yourself.
That's the cable that has gotten me off the speaker cable merry-go-round.
I had very good results with this particular brand:

+2. Yep, that's one more serious contender to add to the recommended list I mentioned below.

Very nice sounding with SS Class A amps too considering that I am a low-power 2A3/300B/45/Pentode Strapped tube amp high sensitivity speakers enthusiast! IMO, it has a very high price to performance ratio compared to other cables I experienced in my stereo.
Another one I've tried that's even less expensive is the Chinese knockoff Odin Gold speaker cables. A drop less transparency with a touch more warmth but a very good sound stage.

Thanks for making the effort, but your link is corrupt.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .

12 gauge cable is perfectly adequate for most systems, 10 gauge might be a little better.
Solid is infinitely preferable to stranded. Solid cable does away with smearing and lack of cohesiveness.
Lack of skill dictates economy of style. - Joey Ramone
Although I'm not familiar with the Furutech cable, I have built an 8' pair of Mogami 3103. The Mogami is a warm/rich sounding cable that comes across a tad "plump"... at least in my system. Wire gauge shouldn't be an issue unless you're driving highly inefficient speakers with a high current power amp. Even then, I'm not sure it would be a serious issue. Not as transparent as say a Wywire Blue Series, Kudos KS-1 or Nordost Super Flatline, yet it's even handed throughout. It may just be a perfect fit for a system that leans to the bright side. It all really depends on what you're trying to accomplish, but to me it sounds like it just may end up being a sideways move. In the end however, that's just a guess to say the least as I've personally got a wicker laundry basket full of cables of all ilks that didn't "make the cut". As always YMMV.
Another note, I've got a big box of cables upstairs myself. I hope the ones I use now will be satisfactory for a good long time. Didn't have the skill to make my own from scratch like you did. I'm envious.

Actually speaker cables are probably the easiest DIY project that one could embark on. Much easier than a DIY IC project in fact. This (Mogami 3103 speaker cables) was a case where I didn't even bring out the soldering rig. Basic wire cutting/stripping tools, Viborg copper solderless bananas, a nice variety of heat shrink of various size/color and a heat gun.
+1 | on the Kudos Audio KS-1 ( $450 | 4M pair ) ls in my case alongside a pair of Xangsane SP-6008Ag ( 3.5M pair | $180 ) have become my reference SCs | have easily replaced my former $1.1175 and $2.750,SCs:

If either of these find difficult to find?, just click onto my username | check through the cable asylum for my entries, the one thing I've come to know since my cable quest began in 2001, anything other than one single pure copper conductor power cord will never be allowed anywhere near my system | like ever, for my senses both sterling silver IC's | USB Cable with silver plated copper Power Cords | SCs have seriously caused me to place ( put ) a pause on cabling looms once and for all.
Thank you for the recommendations. I looked over the Kudos web site and found that one of their speakers, the Titan X3, is quite similar to the one I use (although mine uses ScanSpeak drivers). I'll check out their speaker cable.
You're certainly more than welcome.I came across their SCs in part trying to find alternates to be used with both a Naim Audio SuperNait 3 | Nait XS3 integrated amps, as I came out of the 80s | 90s | early 2000s having used their earlier NAC-A4 then NAC-A5 SCs as the result of having owned a total of 7 of their pieces of gear since 1986-now.
Yet knew full well I couldn't afford their current Super Lumina SCs, so being the avid researcher type, visited several British forums namely ( pun certainly applies ) their own | as well as Pink Fish Media and found reference to said Kudos Audio KS-1s | Witch Hat Audio Phantom SCs and ended up with both ( as many Naim users had actually went said route as well ) as both offer a very very nice tonality it was a toss up between the two..., yet in the end I came to prefer the more delicate - relaxed nature | yet very responsive attack | overall tonality of the KS-1s, so having owned it twice, one in the off white finish, and currently in black, of which I love said finish even more.
As it's the mainstay in my current setup | I can't see ever being without if in this, or the next life | as I now know better then to settle on cost or HiFi overly approved and based upon mere sound effects type of brands of SCs, I'm very very very content with where this cable journey has taken me | finally ended.
And might I add..., beautiful use of the Walnut finishes on your components, as they appear quite tasty to say the least, and alongside Ebony | Santos Rosewood | Curly Maple | Black Walnut, of which have always ( and shall remain ) my favorite finishes to date, I absolutely love your setup, or couldn't you tell? :-)

Thanks Mike. It's interesting to learn that in your opinion the Mogami comes across as a tad plump. Mogami info states that the cable is neutral which indicates that cables are system dependent. I don't think my system is "bright" but then I haven't many opportunities to compare. I'll take a look at info on the Wywire Blue, Kudos and Nordost to understand any differences in construction or materials.
The Nordost Super Flatline "might" offer a very interesting match with your Latino ST120. It (Flatline) sounds superb with my Latino ST70.
Interesting coincidence that we're both using Latino amps. I shall keep the Nordost cable in mind. I believe that a local audio shop carries the Nordost lines so will drop in one day and ask some questions.
Beware of the "upsell" however. They'll no doubt try to push you up the line to the Blue Heaven, Red Dawn or even more $$$. A friend who also uses vacuum tube amplification says the Super Flatline offers a more balanced presentation than either the BH or RD. FWIW, I bought mine (Super FL) online.
