Restoring vintage Jensen cabs

Posted by Wojciech on December 3, 2021 at 20:43:22:

So,I bought vintage 50/60's Jensen cabs with 12 flexair woofers. I told myself, "Keep it cool W. Don't listen to those clunkers, just yank out that valuable horn tweeter, spin it on the big site and cash the change" Did I listen to my inner voice? Of course, not and now I'm fuc...ed. I played chamber vinyl and the violins were to die for even with crappy 100 years old electrolytic caps in crossover. The box is closed without any damping, nothing, nill. I wonder if that was a voicing of the cabs or just, they didn't know aby better and BBC studies of the thin wall cabinet was twenty years in the future? should I use the bitumen mat and fill the cab with wool? What's your take ?

PS. Pardon the dust. As you can see all the cleaning ladies left looong time ago
