I went from a modded H/K T55 to a stock T60, and wasn't certain which was better, but definitely heard a difference.Later, I picked up an Alesis digital recorder, and made a hi-res copy of the same album on each TT. I can hear no difference between the two copies with a good pair of headphones plugged right into the Alesis.
This was an eye opener and a humbling experience.
