Hi Nate.
Thorens used a kind of tough manufactured press board (particle board) with a real hardwood veneer on many their belt drive decks. For instance my TD160 from 1974 had outer cabinetry of particle board covered with Teak veneer. So that is what I would guess this one is. It's Thorens. It's built to last.-Steve
