Cartridge/VTF...

Hello Steve,

I went to the link and was trying to get an idea what cartridge is fitted. Could it be a Shure M3D or M7D? If so, even with generic low compliance replacement styli, those can be secure trackers at 3-4 grams which is just like an SPU and that was light VTF then! AFAIK manual turntables from the 50s and 60s fitted with these type of arms (high mass as we know now) tracked LPs in that range and considered "kind". 7 grams was typical for record changers or 78 rpm.

Based on late 50s-early 60s catalogs I've read, these $15 clones are 'economy' alternatives for those who could not afford a $37 Gray 108. As you said they look serious and they are built to high standards. One just has to see and handle 'in the metal' to truly appreciate.
