You are correct, that I changed both the phono stage and the amplifier. However, with one qualification. The PM94 has a switch enabling the phono stage to be selected between 125 ohms and 350 ohms. I tried the switch to see what the effect would be. At 125 ohms the cartridge sounded excellent but at 350 ohms it sounded horrible - on the same amp. Therefore the only variable changed in that experiment was the loading.
