Re: Old farts...do you remember how everyone hated Pickwick LPs?

That name "Pickwick" brings a smile and a laugh when I hear or read it. When I was about thirteen or fourteen my Mom & Dad were visiting Nashville TN, and they sorta let my younger brother and I loose in downtown Nashville. We stumbled across the record shop called Randys
on Church Street, and they must have had a million LP's in there. Well I bought two or three, and one of them was Judge Pigmeat Markham's "Here comes The Judge." Well we never played them till we got back home in Indiana, and my mother was not the slightest impressed with Judge Pigmeat! The more she bitched the more we played it, and my dad just smiled (she had no sense of humor!!) Finally after almost a year of constant complaigning my Dad told us to close the door to our bedroom when we played it. Later my Uncle dropped by and listened to it, so he borrowed it. Nedless to say there was another outrage in the family, only this time from my aunt. So the record came back home. Then my cousin heard us playing it and later borrowed it. On the way over to his house it was "accidently"left laying in the back seat of my cousin's car (we later determined that his wife and my Mother had plotted this move on the Arts). The LP was of course warped beyond ever playing again, and the ladies in the family were once again happy! My Dad said that none of them had a sense of humor!
Yes the name Pickwick brings back many memories!
