Perhaps John E could fill you in on the math, but basically you have to take the square root of the cartridge and headshell plus the effective mass of the tonearm and then divide it by its distance to the pivot, then do the same thing with the counterweight and this is why adding 4 grams of mass to a headshell will only change your arm's overall effective mass by 0.1-0.3 grams of total effective mass.It is not going to be a huge difference.
What is different is the resonant pattern of a billet magnesium alloy vs the resonant pattern of cast aluminum. Then you have to add to this the increased stiffness of the magnesium allow as to how that effects the cartridges suspension.
This is why the bass gets more solid and tight and the highs are more realistic.
