May I offer a slight correction regarding the German MIXES of MMT and PPM vs the UK mixes? There really is no UK mix of MMT per se. This was a creation of Capitol and wasn't released in the UK as an LP until the late 70s. It only existed as an double EP in the UK and only included the previously unreleased songs. And when it was finally released in the UK, EMI used a copy of the Capitol master(which was a copy of a copy of a copy of the UK EP masters + fake stereo for the other songs). The Germans went back and got copies of the correct stereo masters for the songs -- hence the German copy is far superior to any other stereo release of the MMT LP.
As for PPM, the mixes are the same on the UK LP and German LP. However the UK LPs were made from a compressed/EQ'd cutting master while the German LP was cut from a uncompressed/un EQ'd master copy. Hence the German pressings of PPM/Die Beatles are noticably more dynamic and natural sounding than any UK pressings.
