isn't it?! It all depends upon the sound of the phono stage in your integrated amp. I would wager aside Tommy if I had to as the Bellari is a lot newer and should be more quiet. It isn't my favorite preamp by a long shot however. It does sound very smooth but I don't see that as an issue with an old HK tube integrated ;-).The real killer for you may be that the bellari, although it does have a headphone amp/output, does not have auxillary inputs. That means that you can only use its headphone output to listen to lp's though it. I am assuming that you would expect it to also allow connection of a CD player etc, for headphone use but that won't happen. If you want a versatile headphone amp and just thought that the phono preamp was an added bonus, then you will be disappointed. You will need to buy a headphone amp and continue to use your phono stage in the HK until you can afford a replacement. I recommend the Grado headphone amp and also Grado headphones for the best sound quality and value. They are more than the ASL but they also sound better. The ASL is a little on the dull side as is the Bellari IMO.
