Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

That is the "million dollar question"...

isn't it?! It all depends upon the sound of the phono stage in your integrated amp. I would wager aside Tommy if I had to as the Bellari is a lot newer and should be more quiet. It isn't my favorite preamp by a long shot however. It does sound very smooth but I don't see that as an issue with an old HK tube integrated ;-).

The real killer for you may be that the bellari, although it does have a headphone amp/output, does not have auxillary inputs. That means that you can only use its headphone output to listen to lp's though it. I am assuming that you would expect it to also allow connection of a CD player etc, for headphone use but that won't happen. If you want a versatile headphone amp and just thought that the phono preamp was an added bonus, then you will be disappointed. You will need to buy a headphone amp and continue to use your phono stage in the HK until you can afford a replacement. I recommend the Grado headphone amp and also Grado headphones for the best sound quality and value. They are more than the ASL but they also sound better. The ASL is a little on the dull side as is the Bellari IMO.
