Heh...!20 years ago I had a Thunderbird Marine, Formula F3LS 21' powerboat.
Equipped with an nice deep V hull and after spending my lunch money, a fresh 400hp Chevy small block and an Arneson surface drive.
70+ mph all day long on Lake Michigan...As long as I could keep the 60 Gallons per Hour of 91 octane flowing from the 120 gallon capacity fuel tank (yes, that's right, two hrs of fun before a $200 tank of gas was required).
Add a few grams of Bolivian Flake and other accessories (Hey, it was the '80s!) and a weekend of fun on the "big lake" could be done for a cool grand!
Disposable income? Well, I disposed of it!
