that looks like a tip-top implementation of the conical through the cantilever not just 'on' it. That looks very secure on there ... which might be another reason for the good tracking.just an idea but looking at the way it is situated, if you wore the stylus on it's left/right couldn't you just take the stylus out, twist it, and pout it back in? Then there would be virgin diamond in contact with the groove walls and the worn pats would be fore and aft.
This is probably a stupid idea in about then ways but from looking at the picture can't you see that?
